Olav Bilac at São Jorge - 7th November 2014

Last night hubby took me to see Olav Bilac's concert "Músicas do Meu Mundo". I loved to see him on stage and his music. His guest artists were excellent too! I loved the way he interacts with his public...oh and I saw numerous "public figures" like Cinha Jardim and her gang and boy are they lively. There was also Gisela Serrano from Masterplan and Liliana Queiroz from Big Brother and all I can say is that even with all the sponsors they all look nothing like what they do when one sees them on TV!

Fun day in Lisbon

Well today Rafa had a Fifa tournament in Chiado so we all went along for the ride and did some more sight- seeing. We had lunch in a very different place this time, run my a lovely couple from East Europe We also went into this amazing church called Igreja dos Martires. Although the photos do not depict it's beauty, I can honestly say it's the most beautiful church I have been into. We also walked around Chiado and took pics from the Elevator of Santa Justa.

We first went to see the new "beach" in Lisbon called Praia do Torel. This is a temporary man made beach which will be up and running till the end of August then it will revert back to being just a little lake Notice also the graffiti work on the walls. Next we went and visited the Mercardo da Ribeira, where little food stalls are now also working. You can chose from the menu or you buy your fish from the market and take it to one of the food stalls and they'll cook it for you. I especially love the original lighting they used. Next we visited Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, where there is a statue as a trubute to Dr. Sousa Martins right in front of the Faculty of Medicine. Notice also all the flowers and plaques that people have left to thank him for cures, especially by the less fortunate. He was also loved and respected by all that worked with him. Next we went off to Jardim de Braancamp... Then it was off for lunch, we had lovely sarmies and Rafa a lekker salad and then we did some walking around Chiado and Rossio, were we did some shopping. ...and lastly we went to Jardim da Estrela, where I had to rest my poor feet, but it was a great day. Lisbon always has so much to see and I always return and find something new. Enjoy! If there are any special places in and around Lisbon that you'd like us to visit and then comment on feel free to tell me :)

Day 6 – 5th July Oh dear, have just peeped out of window to heaven and I think the sun is playing up again, not a happy chappy at the moment. Have just tidied up the lounge and made breakie for everyone (they are all still in bed). It’s 7:30 so I’m taking the time to catch up on the gossip. Isn’t it funny that eventhough one is in paradise we need our social networking?  Hang in here and I’ll have more news later! We’ve had lunch and are now just lazing around till it’s time to go down to the pool. The sun heard me and came out nice and warm. Today was the day I stayed the longest in the pool, the sun was warm and it just felt great! The kids had pizza for dins and Mom and I had coffee and toast and hubby as you’ll see from the pics had a biggg chicken/meat sarmie, with the left overs from lunch. Now were off into town for coffee and just to stretch our limbs 

Day 5 – 4th July Today when I woke up and looked out of the window I was a little disappointed, the sun wasn’t as warm and bright as I’d like it to be but…. Since we only took a dip in the pool and didn’t laze around we decided to go grocery shopping. We had roast chicken, humm so delicious and had a round of pool; so far Rafa and I have drawn 2-2 ahahaha (he says it’s luck) but that’s just bad losing! We also played trivial persuit which we all love. Mom keeps her mind occupied with crossward puzzles  In the afternoon it was decided that we’d go into Torres Vedras and just look around (check-out the fotos of there lovely Parque da Varsea and then just so that we don’t forget we went for a walk around Arena Shopping  In the evening we had planed on going into town for our lekker croissants but Rafa was car sick on the way back (too many curves ek sê) so we opted to stay and have coffee and home and just laze around. Hey sun tomorrow you better sight nice n bright 

Day 4 – 3rd July Well wat a gorgeous view early in the morning, the weather is going to play nicely with us today  Just prepared breakie for everyone, Mom is showering and Rafa was the first to come looking for food  Hubby and I have just been taking out what we’re going to make for lunch (braai naturally) and what to do next? POOL of course! See you all around  Well the braai was delicious, we accompanied it with boiled patatoes and lovely ice cold fruit; papaia and melon. Afterwards we had a game of snooker and then it was off to the pool again. The water was delicious and warm. I kept on having to go in to cool off and then I’d just laze in the sun….oh what bliss  Dins we ate left-overs from lunch with chips and afterwards we went into town for coffee at A Conferaria. Enjoy the fotos!

Day 3 – 2nd July Well today I woke up to some clouds and a little breeze, got breakfast ready and tidied the things a little whilst the gang still slept. We went down to the pool as the sun did appear but it wasn’t as hot as the other days and so we came inside and played games like fifa (rafa and hubby), Nadine and I played snooker (I won  ) and Mom did some crossword puzzles. I did some washing too (ja a Mom always has work) and then we had lunch. After lunch we went to the Vila of Alenquer…we went to the convento and looked for the castle but it was just some bits and pieces of the old walls. We looked around and took some pictures as can be seen below. Back at the house Rafa and hubby went cycling up the hills and I went down to the pool to sun tan a little, Nadine joined me later. Oh and I decided to clean the pool as there were lots of leaves in it as can be seen from the pics, the pool is surounded by bushes and trees. Huuby and rafa also came to join us and we just fooled around. After dins we (hubby, Rafa and I) went into town for some coffe and delicious croissants at A Calçadinha. Next we played trivial and snooker and believe be we are all very ready for bed. :=)

Day 2 – 1st July Well lets say that I didn’t have a very restful night as I had big fights with the pillow  eventually I decided to go and get a cushion from the lounge, but even so the bed was bloody hard  As I wasn’t happy in bed I got up early and came and look out of the sliding doors at the gorgeous views, wow how lucky we are. The weather didn’t look so great as yesterday but I’m sure it will turn out well. Made breakfast and then hubby and I went to do some grocery shopping and when we got back it was pool time again. I didn’t go into the pool but the kids did and they said the water wasn’t as warm as yesterday. Hubby prepared our braai whilst I did the other things. Now we’re resting a little, the kids are playing cards with grandma and I’m catching up on the blog…more later. Well hi again, we’ve just had another wonderful afternoon in the sun and pool, I’ve also watered the garden, and yes it deserves a meantion as this place is massive  For din dins we had the left-overs from lunch and we played snooker and cards. After our coffee we watched a movie (for me it was a rewatch), Rafa played fifa which he cannot miss  Now it’s off to bed for a desrved rest. Yeah isn’t it funny that when my Family is supposedly on holiday we seem to be so much more active 
